Privacy policy

This page is currently available in English only.

Last updated 4 August 2026. This covers the playcosanostra.com website only — Cosa Nostra: The Commission is still in development and has no player accounts or in-game data yet. The game will get its own policy covering what happens inside it, including if it ever becomes playable here.

What we collect, and why

Email address. If you use the development-updates form, we store the email address you enter, the date you signed up, the wording you agreed to, and which part of the site you signed up from. It's used for exactly one thing: sending you occasional news about the game's development. We don't share or sell it.

Spam and abuse prevention. The signup form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, a human-verification widget. Completing it sends your IP address and a verification token to Cloudflare for checking. Separately, we keep a one-way hashed version of your IP address for up to one hour, purely to stop repeated automated attempts — it's never linked to the email address you submit, and it's deleted automatically once the hour is up.

Theme and language preference. If you switch between light/dark or change the site language, that choice is remembered in a cookie and in your browser's local storage for up to a year, so the site opens the way you left it. This isn't used to identify or track you.

Standard hosting data. This site runs on Cloudflare's network. Like any host, Cloudflare processes basic connection information (such as IP address) to deliver the page and protect it from abuse, independent of anything described above.

Analytics

At the time of writing, this site runs no analytics or visitor tracking at all. If that changes, we'll use Cloudflare Web Analytics — a cookie-free product that reports aggregate traffic without tracking individual visitors across sites — and we'll update this page when we do.

What we don't do

  • No advertising or ad-tracking networks.
  • No selling or renting your information to anyone.
  • No third parties beyond the ones named above (Cloudflare, for hosting, bot-verification, and optionally analytics).

How long we keep it

  • Email signups: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them.
  • Hashed IP addresses for rate-limiting: deleted automatically after one hour.
  • Theme/language cookies: up to one year, or until you clear them.

Your choices

Every development-update email will include an unsubscribe link. You can also write to contact@playcosanostra.com at any time to unsubscribe, ask what we have on file for you, correct it, or have it deleted.

Children

Cosa Nostra: The Commission is a game about 1930s organized crime and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

As the site and the game develop, this policy may change with them. We'll update the date at the top when it does.
